Co-creating Digital Sovereignty

Digital sovereignty is teamwork

We are driving forward the digital sovereignty of public administration in Germany. We are the interface between the federal, state and local governments on the one hand and the tech ecosystem on the other. Our work does not stop at national borders, but we cooperate closely with international partners - in Europe and worldwide. If you would like to develop, elaborate and actively implement ideas together with us, we look forward to getting to know you.

5 teams, 1 task

Around 30 people now work for us and we are constantly growing. Our five departments, which focus on open source products, the openCode platform, corporate strategy, finance & controlling and internal services, bring together the specialist knowledge of many experts. All teams pursue one task: to set up the public administration with confidence.

Bochum instead of Berlin

Our office is located in the building of the former Opel plant in Bochum. We work at a national level, but away from the hustle and bustle of Berlin. We meet regularly in the office, but work from home in different corners of Germany - from Hanover to Bavaria. ZenDiS Night, an evening together with activities ranging from billiards to pub quizzes, regularly ensures that we can also exchange ideas outside of work.

Designing together

We work on our topics independently and with enthusiasm. We love to drive things forward and take responsibility for our topics. We have short lines of communication and plenty of scope for creativity.

Vacancies

We are looking forward to designers and forward thinkers with an entrepreneurial spirit and personal responsibility. To fellow campaigners who have ideas and want to put them into practice.

Note: Currently, all vacancies are only available in German.

We value diversity and variety

For us, your enthusiasm, your skills and your creative drive are decisive. Diversity in terms of gender, age, religion, sexual identity or origin enriches us. We welcome applications that contribute to both the expertise and diversity of ZenDiS. We grow together as a team and want to ensure that everyone can thrive here right from the start.

Our recruiting process

Virtual conversation

In the first interview, we try to find out whether you have the right technical skills and whether you would fit into the team on a personal level. To ensure equal opportunities, we ask all applicants the same questions. The interview is conducted by our recruiter together with a member of the hiring team.

On-site exchange

In the second round, we delve deeper into the technical aspects and observe how you interact with the team. You will be given a task by your future team and can first write down or visualise your thoughts on it at your leisure. We will then discuss your results with the team.

Feedback

After the second round, we will let you know when we will get back to you with feedback. We usually manage to do this within the following week. However, your feedback is just as important to us: please feel free to contact us at any time if there is anything we can improve: recruiting@zendis.de

What makes working at ZenDiS special?

I like working in young organisations where there is a lot to shape. When I can also support projects that are hugely important for public administration in Germany and Europe, as I do at ZenDiS, it feels very special, even on stressful days.

Unlike large corporations, we can work much more agilely and flexibly. I get a direct ‘yes’ or ‘no’ when I want to implement something. I feel that I can make a difference through my work. And I can quickly provide solutions for public administration.

On the one hand, I think our mission is important: to strengthen the digital sovereignty of public administration. On the other hand, I like the fact that we really operate like a start-up. Many things are implemented very quickly and easily. And there is room to contribute ideas.

And beyond that

Flexibility

Reconciling work, family and leisure time is important to us, which is why we offer the opportunity to work part-time by arrangement. We also offer flexible working hours to suit your life.

Further development

We regularly attend conferences and trade fairs to keep up to date with the latest professional developments. We also support your individual development with further training. To further develop and strengthen our teams, we bring in coaches when necessary.

Mobility

If you come from the region, we will cover the full cost of the Deutschlandticket for your journey to the office. Many colleagues live all over Germany and have access to a mobility budget to reimburse costs, e.g. for overnight stays in Bochum.
